Last week Mrs Smith went to Parliament to talk to a group of influential people, including the Children’s Commissioner Dame Rachel de Souza about our school and the recent data published regarding food insecurity. She spoke of the importance of listening to children and their opinions to help shape the future service offers from the government. Mrs Smith spoke about the need to implement universal free school meals beyond Year R , 1 & 2 to cover the whole of primary school. Let’s hope that those listening to the discussion will act!
There was also a clip of St Cuthbert’s on ITV following the publishing of the report. Have a look: https://www.itv.com/news/2024-01-16/health-experts-call-for-universal-free-school-meals-to-tackle-food-poverty
